The Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia (affectionately dubbed TRAV) is an annual event hosted at The Virginia Horse Center, Hoofbeats’ home turf. Therapy centers from around the state travel to the show for a weekend of fun and rewarding competition.
Who said horses can’t dance? Music is a big part of therapeutic riding at Hoofbeats. Rhythm is a universal language that all of our riders can understand. We love to get dressed up and ride to music. Not only is it a mental exercise to integrate a horse’s natural four-beat or two-beat rhythm into a piece of music, it is also crazy and ridiculous fun. Everybody can participate. Every year, our entire team – all of the riders, volunteers, and families – performs a musical number together at the TRAV show. It’s a Hoofbeats tradition of silliness that will continue for ages.
